Santa Barbara, CA, October 17, 2017 – Baswood Corporation, a global leader in biological wastewater treatment, was recently awarded the 2017 Technology Innovation Award by Frost & Sullivan. The award recognizes Baswood’s innovative approach of utilizing proven fixed-film, fixed-media technologies and sequencing them in a unique way to treat wastewater within a significantly smaller energy footprint, ultimately delivering much lower operating costs and a high return on investment for its customers.
Baswood holds two patents: one for its Aerobic/Anaerobic Integrated Media System (AIMS) and one for its Dry Cycle Aerobic/Anaerobic Digestion (DCAD) solution, which is used in the AIMS. These technologies are utilized in two Baswood products serving the industrial and municipal markets. The Baswood BioViper™ treats wastewater from food, beverage and dairy processing industries, while the BioVore™ is used for digestion of secondary biosolids from the municipal wastewater treatment process. Baswood’s proven technology treats water to potable reuse standards by integrating appropriate tertiary equipment from one of Baswood’s business partners.
"What particularly impresses Frost & Sullivan is that together, the processes are able to overcome the major challenges of chemical and energy use, sludge management, and lack of operation ease that currently hamper the industry," said Sharath Thirumalai, Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "Baswood systems occupy a small physical footprint, which is possible due to vertical configuration of treatment zones, and enable a smaller greenhouse gas footprint due to lower energy consumption as compared to traditional biological treatment systems.”
Frost & Sullivan recognized Baswood as a “market disruptor” because the company’s innovative wastewater solutions provide customers with significant surcharge reduction and, ultimately, a quick financial return.
Paul Kamholz, Vice President of Sales at Baswood, stated, “Baswood is proud to be recognized with this award in an industry that is not always known for technological innovation. We are ready to lead the change in wastewater treatment and bring our sustainable, cost-effective solutions to more industries and municipalities across the globe.”
Baswood offers innovative and sustainable technology-based solutions to wastewater and biosolids treatment for a wide range of industrial and municipal markets. Baswood’s proven, patented technologies provide effective treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater streams, as well as biosolids digestion. Founded in 2004, the company delivers innovative, technology-based solutions that produce results. Baswood's state-of-the-art technology has proven effective in treating industrial and municipal wastewater streams with a cost advantage over baseline technologies.
